OpenWater started the way most foil projects do: a few people on the water wondering why the thing they wanted didn't exist. We wanted a speed tracker that measured properly, kept our data on our own devices, and showed its work — so we built one, and open-sourced every line of it, including the analysis algorithms.
Then we kept going. Wingfoiling, parawinging, downwinding, prone — this sport moves fast, and the knowledge about where to ride, which wind meter to trust and when the season turns lives scattered across forums, group chats and local memory. The Spot Guide is our attempt to gather it: launches, conditions, wind meters, webcams, tides and local guides, checked against real sources and open to contributions from anyone.
There's no company behind this, no account to create, and nothing to sell you. It's a project by people who are passionate about a sport, for people who are passionate about a sport.

The content on this site — the spot guide and the articles — is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0): use it, share it, build on it, just credit OpenWater. Spot photographs carry their own credits and licenses, shown beneath each photo.
