Water
Protected English Bay shoreline used for instruction; the school reports no motorboat launching at Jericho, but this is still salt water exposed to weather and Vancouver port traffic outside the immediate teaching area: https://www.windsure.com/ https://jsca.bc.ca/2026/05/in-the-wind-may-27-2026/
Experience
Beginner-friendly instruction through intermediate practice at the exact Jericho Beach school. Independent riders still need English Bay navigation and self-rescue competence: https://www.windsure.com/ https://jsca.bc.ca/2026/05/in-the-wind-may-27-2026/
Hazards
English Bay is part of Canada's busiest port: stay clear of ships, anchorages, shipping lanes and Traffic Control Zones, including the First Narrows no-go zone for non-motorized craft. The centre also prohibits swimming in the launch beach sector. Weather dependency and self-rescue remain relevant even though motorboat launching is absent at Jericho: https://jsca.bc.ca/2026/05/in-the-wind-may-27-2026/ https://www.windsure.com/
Parking & access
Paid parking is available immediately outside at Jericho Sailing Centre; additional paid street parking is on NW Marine Drive/nearby beaches, with some free residential parking about a 10-15 minute walk away: https://www.windsure.com/
“Wingfoil lessons in Vancouver come with a real sense of place at Windsure Adventure Watersports. Most watersports schools have a founding story. Windsure’s is Requested-field batch 16 verified 2026-08-02: Exact current school, parking and 2026 Jericho navigation guidance were verified. The official webcam currently states that it is temporarily out of service, so it was not added; no reliable exact season, preferred wind or surf report was found.”
