“Kite Beach lies on the north coast of the Dominican Republic, just west of the town of Cabarete – one of the pioneering locations of kitesurfing. In summer the steady easterly trade wind is boosted by a strong afternoon thermal: as the land heats up, the wind pushes side-onshore onto the bay from around midday and peaks in the late afternoon. The water is choppy, with a reef offshore that keeps the bigger swell out. Kite Beach and neighbouring Bozo Beach are the main spots. When is the best time”
