“On its western side Amrum has the Kniepsand, one of the widest sand surfaces in Europe – up to two kilometres wide, ideal for rigging and a first dry run with a trainer kite. The flat bay at Wittdün only fills with enough water for about four hours around high tide; at low water only the shipping channel south of the island works.
