“The shallow bay of Alaçatı on the Çeşme peninsula on Turkey's Aegean coast is one of the world's best-known flat-water windsurf and kite spots. The thermal northerly Imbat (the locally amplified Meltemi) builds almost daily around midday in summer – often from 10–11 am – and regularly reaches 20–30 knots. The U-shaped bay acts like a nozzle and can add several knots to the prevailing wind, while the standing-depth, glassy water in the inner section makes it an ideal learning zone.
