Hazards
Fast incoming tide, sandbars that cut people off, soft mud/sand, groynes and outfalls are explicit council hazards. Stay in the Broomhill watersports zone, away from rocks and Rye Harbour's strong currents/boats: https://www.rother.gov.uk/leisure-and-events/beaches-and-coastline/camber-sands/
Parking & access
Exact official water-sports access is Broomhill car park, which the council currently lists as free and directly beside the designated kite/water-sports zone; other Camber council lots are pay-on-arrival: https://www.rother.gov.uk/leisure-and-events/beaches-and-coastline/camber-sands/
“Camber Sands is a vast sandy beach backed by large dunes on the East Sussex–Kent border, just over an hour from south London and only about 8 km from Rye station. At low tide the sea uncovers huge sand flats and shallow lagoons that form behind the sandbars. It's sailable in southerly directions – SE, S and SW all work. The day often starts with a light offshore breeze that turns and builds around midday, then holds into the evening; on average there are around four windy days a week year-round, Dedicated guide names Camber Sands as a forgiving parawing location because of its long flat beach and gradual depth, while noting exposure in stronger wind. Requested-field batch 12 verified 2026-08-01: exact, nearby, route, area, operator and community-candidate relationships remain explicit; generic coordinate-only Surfline maps were removed where no meaningful report exists; unresolved items remain Unknown.”
