Summer is the primary period in the original exact route source; winter can be dangerous. Current Maliko guidance also frames the run around trade-wind days.

Hazards

Current shuttle guidance calls Maliko an extremely advanced roughly nine-mile open-ocean course with limited easy exits, reef/rock shoreline, strong trade wind and swell; winter can be dangerous. A Progression Project forum guide adds patchy cell service, high-speed wipeout/phone-loss risk, injury and equipment-repair contingencies. Use a PFD, redundant communications, secure flotation for electronics, repair/first-aid supplies, a guide or local partner, shuttle and harbor landing plan.

Parking & access

Arrange a two-point shuttle and verify current Maliko Gulch start and Kahului Harbor landing access. A forum-local host can connect visitors with the community and support logistics, but no public parking entitlement is stated.
