Water

Leinster Bay Caribbean water with a narrow sand entry, shallow coral heads over sand, seagrass farther along the bay and a steep drop beyond the first reef. Waterlemon Cay has rocks/urchins and a strong current on its north side. These NPS descriptions are nearby along the Leinster Bay Trail; they do not prove a foil-safe channel at the submitted pin: https://www.nps.gov/viis/planyourvisit/snorkeling.htm

Experience

Community candidate only; exact experience level is unverified. The sole foil submission calls the launch easy but is anonymous and supplies no wind, depth, access or recovery detail. Current NPS evidence instead shows a shallow coral/snorkeling environment with regulated water use, so do not treat the claim as a beginner endorsement: https://project7iii.com/foildata/map/annaberg-beach https://www.nps.gov/viis/planyourvisit/snorkeling.htm https://www.nps.gov/viis/learn/management/compendium.htm

Hazards

Shallow coral heads, seagrass, rocks, long-spine urchins, swimmers/snorkelers, moored and visiting boats, and strong current north of Waterlemon Cay are documented. Current park rules prohibit sail/windsurfer operation inside marked boat-exclusion areas and prohibit commercial kitesurfing in park/monument waters; exact recreational wing/parawing permission and any legal access channel at this pin remain unverified. Protect coral/turtles, keep clear of moorings and swimmers, and confirm current NPS zoning before rigging: https://www.nps.gov/viis/planyourvisit/snorkeling.htm https://www.nps.gov/viis/learn/management/compendium.htm https://www.nps.gov/viis/planyourvisit/virgin-islands-marine-visitor-use-information.htm

Parking & access

The official NPS snorkeling page directs visitors to the Annaberg parking lot, followed by about a 10-minute walk to the first narrow sand entry on the Leinster Bay Trail. It does not publish a parking fee, capacity, equipment-unloading right or overnight permission; the submitted coordinate itself is not documented as a drive-up launch: https://www.nps.gov/viis/planyourvisit/snorkeling.htm

“The open-source map explicitly classifies the exact submitted coordinate as a wingfoil and parawing spot and a contributor describes it as fun with an easy launch. No wind range, reef, access, park-rule or hazard detail is supplied. Treat it as a community candidate and verify that the mapped shore entry is legal, suitable for the day's wind and clear of reef, swimmers and protected-area restrictions. Requested-field batch verified 2026-08-01: exact-versus-nearby resource labels retained; unknown fields were not inferred. 2026-08-02 requested-field verification: Stable duplicate of FS-0235 at the same coordinate and source. Both IDs are preserved and now share consistent official NPS context. Exact recreational permission, wind, season and camera remain unverified; the existing nearby surf resource is retained only on this record.”
