Protected beginner cove, but the guide limits the access ramp to intermediate users. Avoid lesson groups and other paddlers; outside the cove, Columbia current, wind and swell increase quickly, so establish a downwind recovery plan.

Parking & access

Official 2026 Port rules: pay parking 8 a.m.-6 p.m.; $2.75/hour up to $15/day. Hook lot 7 a.m.-10 p.m., regular vehicles only, no RVs/trailers, no overnight parking, and annual passes are not valid: https://www.portofhoodriver.com/waterfront-parking
