“Harlesiel is the ferry harbour for Wangerooge and at the same time one of the more reliable mainland spots on the East Frisian North Sea. You ride inside the official kite zone in the Lower Saxony Wadden Sea National Park (UNESCO World Heritage), in a window from three and a half hours before to three and a half hours after high water – a touch longer than at the neighbouring -siel spots. Rig and launch on the beach or by the groyne north of the harbour; you ride out on the flooded Wadden flats.”
