“At around 30 square kilometres, Lake Plön (Großer Plöner See) is the largest lake in Schleswig-Holstein, set in the rolling Holstein Switzerland. The best-known surf access is Fegetasche on the eastern shore near Plön, plus beaches around Ascheberg to the west. You rig on the shore and ride on flat to lightly choppy freshwater – tide-free, no salt, framed by woods and beech forest. West, southwest and northwest winds come through best; in summer the thermal helps. When is the best season? April ”
