“Workum on the Frisian shore of the IJsselmeer is one of Europe's largest inland kite spots. You launch from the beach at the It Soal campsite; the freshwater stands over a shallow sandy bottom, with around 500 m of standing-depth water and a sandbar beyond which it drops to as much as 5 m. Wind is stable from south through west to north and runs side-shore in almost every direction; east is gusty and offshore. It blows most reliably in spring and autumn, with a season from March to October. What 2026-08-13 Wingfoiltips Netherlands audit: Wingfoiltips identifies Workum Strand/It Soal as the shallow sandy IJsselmeer launch. The municipality independently documents the new 320-space recreation-area parking and the pedestrian path over the Soldatengracht dam to the beach. OpenStreetMap path way 785580276 fixes the physical beach-access point at 52.9714106,5.4104726; this replaces the old 52.973,5.43 inland/non-beach point. Soal Surf is supporting school/shop information at Workum, not a second launch. KNMI station 267 Stavoren supplies public observations from 8.20 km away. Current local/operator pages advertise the Workum kite-zone webcam, but its exact mount has not been independently geotagged, so no camera is published.”
